Total Rail Intermodal Traffic Moves

For the year, rail intermodal traffic moves totaled 14,234,074, a 4.3% increase from 2005 total volumes.

Total Container Traffic

Container traffic in total represented approximately 83% of all rail intermodal moves, a 6.7% increase over 2005 levels.

Domestic Containers

Domestic container traffic moves totaled 3,292,579 and represented approximately 23% of the total moves. Domestic container traffic increased 4.8% from 2005.

International Containers

ISO container (20-ft, 40-ft, and 45-ft boxes) traffic moves totaled 8,508,567 and represented roughly 59.7% of the total moves. International container traffic increased 7.5% from 2005.

Trailers

Trailer traffic moves totaled 2,432,928 and represented 17% of the total moves. Trailer traffic decreased -5.9% from 2005.
