IANA’s 2008 Operations & Maintenance Seminar Is Set for May 1-2
CALVERTON, MD, February 27—The Intermodal Association of North America (IANA)will conduct its annual Operations & Maintenance Seminar on May 1-2 at the Oak Brook Hills Marriott Resort, in Oak Brook, Illinois.
Several hundred operations and maintenance executives are expected to attend the 14th annual meeting, which will feature a hands-on equipment inspection demonstration and informative, timely workshops. The Seminar will be preceded by a first-ever golf outing on April 30 and meetings of IANA’s Committees and Divisions.
Thursday’s program includes a “roadability” equipment demonstration by the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance and the fourth annual Innovative Intermodal Symposium, which is a showcase for new products and services.
The educational sessions on Thursday include “Terminal Design: Who Wins?” and “Outsourcing M & R—A Good Idea?” and a luncheon featuring a keynote speaker. The event continues on Friday with two other topical educational sessions, “TWIC—How Is It Working?” and “California—Here It Comes?” A town hall format will be used for the closing session that will examine a key issue—equipment damage—from the perspective of each participating industry group.
In addition, the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Intermodal Freight Technology Working Group (IFTWG) will meet during the Seminar and feature a related, technology-oriented educational program. The IFTWG addresses issues such as enhancing the efficiency of local trucking service and international shipment tracking.
Discounts of $50 a person are available if registration is completed by March 31, either by mail, fax or through www.intermodal.org/seminar. The meeting is open to IANA members and non-members alike.
IANA is North America's leading industry trade association representing the combined interests of the intermodal freight industry.
