Experts to Address Key Issues at IANA O & M Seminar

CALVERTON, MD, April 19—Prominent industry experts from trucking companies, ocean carriers, railroads and suppliers will address key issues such as security, “roadability” and technological advancements at the Intermodal Association of North America’s (IANA) Operations & Maintenance Seminar on May 3 & 4 in Oak Brook, Illinois.

This year’s seminar, the 13th annual gathering of intermodal executives who are responsible for equipment condition and terminal operations, is being held at the Oak Brook Hills Marriott Resort. The Seminar represents an excellent networking opportunity for executives, terminal personnel and front-line managers from companies that manage intermodal facilities. In conjunction with the Seminar, the U.S. DOT’s Intermodal Freight Technology Working Group meets on May 2 & 3 and IANA committees will convene on May 2.

Newly proposed federal “roadability”(intermodal equipment safety) rules will be discussed by a distinguished panel at the closing session on Friday morning, after concurrent workshops on Thursday afternoon and earlier on Friday. This year’s panelists and educational sessions include:

Roadability: “Comments on Comments”

Purpose: Offer perspectives on the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration rules proposal

Purpose: Discuss enrollment, safety and operational procedures for the new security credential

Purpose: Explore the interaction of tires and brakes on intermodal equipment related to “roadability”
