IANA's 2007 Operations & Maintenance Seminar Set for May 3-4 in Oak Brook, Illinois
CALVERTON, MD, March 15—The Intermodal Association of North America (IANA) will hold its 2007 Intermodal Operations & Maintenance Seminar, on May 3 & 4 in Oak Brook, Illinois at the Oak Brook Hills Marriott Resort. This educational event is the largest gathering of intermodal executives who share responsibilities for the industry’s terminal operations and equipment condition.
This year’s Seminar, the 13th held by IANA, will address topical items for operations and maintenance professionals, including: emerging terminal technologies implementation of the Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) program, and equipment component issues The Seminar also provides excellent networking opportunities among the various intermodal disciplines.
TWIC, the security-related program that will begin by mid-2007, will be discussed on Thursday, May 3, including a luncheon presentation that will be followed by a related workshop session to examine the enrollment, safety and operational procedures associated with implementation. Also scheduled on Thursday is a practical discussion of tire and brake issues that loom large in any discussion related to equipment roadability. In addition, the 3rd annual Innovative Intermodal Symposium will be held at the end of that afternoon.
On May 4, the program continues with concurrent workshops on Automated Gate Systems (AGS) and the expanding use of terminal reservations systems across the intermodal network. The closing general session will bring together the various parties involved with the proposed Equipment Roadability regulations.
IANA is North America's leading industry trade association representing the combined interests of the intermodal freight industry. IANA's membership includes railroads, water carriers and stacktrain operators; port authorities; intermodal truckers and over-the-road highway carriers; intermodal marketing and logistics companies; and suppliers to the industry such as equipment manufacturers, intermodal leasing companies and consulting firms. IANA's associate members include shippers, academic institutions, government entities and non-profit associations.
