RAYMOND W. TIPPIT SR. WINS
2004 IANA SILVER KINGPIN AWARD

Industry Mentor Continues to Teach
Future Generations of Intermodalists

SAN ANTONIO, TX, Nov. 15, 2004 – During the Joint Opening General Session of the 2004 Intermodal Expo, the NITL’s TransComp, and the TIA’s Fall Conference, the Intermodal Association of North America (IANA) presented its 2004 Silver Kingpin Award to Raymond W. Tippit, Sr.

Ray is a long-time employee of, and currently senior consultant to, Mi-Jack Products, Inc., a leading manufacturer of intermodal rail and port lift equipment. The Silver Kingpin Award is presented annually by IANA to an individual who has made outstanding career-long contributions toward advancing the intermodal freight transportation industry.

Ray has always been passionate about sharing his real-world knowledge of the industry to future generations of intermodalists. He has been a consistent and enthusiastic educator in the area of terminal operations; his expertise has been hard-earned, after re-engineering some of the most “challenging” rail terminals across the U.S. Ray has taken this real world experience and shared it with his successors in the intermodal freight transportation industry in order to ensure that they will be prepared and positioned for future intermodal growth.

"Ray Tippit is a founding board member of IANA, and his unwavering dedication to intermodalism has made him an invaluable advocate of the Association,” said Joni Casey, IANA president & CEO. “Ray’s legacy at IANA,” observed chairman, Barry Michaels, “will undoubtedly be the Association’s annual Operations & Maintenance Seminar that he conceived, and tirelessly continues to shepherd each year."

IANA is North America's leading industry trade association representing the combined interests of the intermodal freight industry. IANA's membership includes railroads, water carriers and stacktrain operators; port authorities; intermodal truckers and over-the-road highway carriers; intermodal marketing and logistics companies; and suppliers to the industry such as equipment manufacturers, intermodal leasing companies and consulting firms. IANA's associate members include shippers, academic institutions, government entities and non-profit associations.
