About the Program
Q-1: What is the IANA member supported Fuel Card program?
A: The program enables IANA members to utilize the fuel card management services of T-Chek Systems to purchase fuel at T-Chek authorized truck stops in the United States and Canada.
Q-2: Who is T-Chek Systems?
A: T-Chek is a leading fuel card provider. They offer transportation services from single truck operations to the largest fleets in the marketplace today.
T-Chek offers a full range of fuel purchase and technology services, including the T-Card® fuel card and online information related to fuel purchasing. Fuel tax and log audit processing, temporary permits, and driver funds transfer are among other services that will be offered through the IANA member supported program.
Q-3: Who is eligible to participate in the IANA member supported Fuel Card program?
A: Currently all IANA members companies are eligible to participate in the Fuel Card program. UIIA participants will be eligible to participate in the Fuel Card program on or before July 1, 2007.
Q-4: When will the Fuel Card program begin?
A: The program will begin on March 1, 2007 for IANA member companies. The program for UIIA participants will begin on or before July 1, 2007. IANA members can begin the qualification process at any time by submitting their downloadable online applications and card forms to T-Chek immediately.
Q-5: Is the IANA Fuel Card program available to all IANA member companies?
A: Yes, the Fuel Card program is not limited to Motor Carrier Division members. If your company is an IANA member in good standing you may submit the T-Chek application and card forms to T-Chek for approval.
Q-6: What are some of benefits of the program?
A: The Fuel Card program is designed to be a fuel cost savings program. IANA members can utilize the fuel card at over 6000 truck stops in the US and Canada. Additional cost savings are available at selected (IANA Premium Network) fuel stops and at CFN (Commercial Fueling Network) cardlock sites.
Program participants can control their fueling expenses by using online interactive tools to track fuel usage and taxes.
Eligibility and Qualification
Q-7: Is the IANA Fuel Card program available to all IANA member companies?
A: Yes. The Fuel Card program is not limited to Motor Carrier Division members. If your company is an IANA member in good standing you may submit the application and card forms to T-Chek for approval.
Q-8: What if I my company is not currently an IANA member?
A: Membership in the Intermodal Association of North America (IANA) is open to companies and individuals involved in the intermodal freight transportation industry and those who do business with those companies. Click here to download an IANA membership application
Q-9: My company participates in the UIIA (Uniform Intermodal Interchange and Facilities Access Agreement) program. Is the company automatically an IANA member?
A: No. However, based upon your participation the UIIA program you are most likely eligible to become an IANA member. Click here to download an IANA membership application.
Q-10: Must my company become an IANA member to participate in the Fuel Card program?
A: At this time, yes. However, the program will also become available, on or before July 1, to all UIIA participants. There are some distinct advantages if your company would become an IANA member. For example, the application fee for the program is waived for IANA members.
Q-11: Can I enroll in the Fuel Card program now as an UIIA participant?
A: Not at this time. When the program becomes available to UIIA participants, the applicable forms will be posted on this Web site.
Q-12: What is the application fee for UIIA participants?
A: This fee will be announced at a later date.
Q-13: Is participation in the program mandatory?
A: No, the IANA member supported Fuel Card program is strictly voluntary.
Q-14: What if my company already utilizes the T-Chek Systems fuel card directly?
A: Contact Jon Segal with T-Chek Systems at 877-767-2435 to discuss your company's need and program details.
Q-15: Must I continue to be an IANA member to participate in the program?
A: The IANA Fuel Card program is designed for the benefit of IANA members. If you drop your IANA membership, but are a UIIA participant, you may remain in the program, but any applicable fees apply. If you drop your membership and are not a UIIA participant, you may not participate in this program.
Q-16: What do I need to do to qualify for the program?
A: You must fill out a T-Card Application and Agreement form, an Account Set-Up and Card Order form, establish a payment method and be approved.
To establish a credit line, you must provide the past two years’ financials along with the application. All financials are held in strictest confidence. If you prefer not to share your financial statements, you may post a letter of credit, a cash deposit or prepay in order to establish an account with T-Chek.
Q-17: How do I apply for the Fuel Card program?
A: Click here to download an application. You may also download the driver card forms. T-Chek Systems will handle all applications and will maintain the confidentiality of each applicant.
The completed application and card forms can be faxed, e-mailed, or mailed to the attention of Jon Segal of T-Chek Systems at the address shown below. If you fax or e-mail the forms, you must mail the signature page to T-Chek Systems, Attention: Jon Segal, 14800 Charlson Road, Suite 100, Eden Prairie, MN 55347-5046.

Q-18: Is there an application fee to participate in the Fuel Card program?
A: There is no application fee for IANA members in good standing. An application fee will apply to UIIA participants who are not IANA members.
Fuel Card Network
Q-19: How many truck stops accept the IANA card?
A: The T-Chek fuel card is currently accepted at more than 6,000 truck stops in the United States and Canada. Click here to view a complete listing the truck stops. The IANA fuel card is accepted at all of these locations. Locations in the Republic of Mexico will be added later this year.
Q-20: What is the IANA Premium Network?
A: It is a network of truck stops that agreed to comply with IANA's parameters. These participating sites will offer fuel discounts and pay the carrier transaction fee.
Q-21: Where are the IANA Premium Network Truck stops located?
A: Click here to view a map of the IANA Premium Network truck stop locations.
Q-22: My drivers do not currently use any of the listed locations. Can I make a request to add a truck stop location to the IANA Premium Network?
A: Should you have a preferred fueling location that is not included in the IANA Premium Network, please contact T-Chek Merchant Services Department at 877-767-2435. Every consideration will be given to add this location to the IANA Premium Network.
Network locations are reviewed on a periodic basis. For a truck stop to be considered as part of the IANA Premium Network, the truck stop must meet specific criteria as agreed to by T-Chek Systems and the truck stop.
Q-23: Can T-Chek help me locate alternative locations to my current fueling locations?
A: Yes, the T-Chek Web site can assist you in locating accepting locations in any state.
Q-24: Are there any other discount truck stops in the Network?
A: Yes. The IANA Fuel Card is accepted at participating CFN sites (Commercial Fueling Network cardlocks). Click here to view a map of the locations. There are no card transaction fees.
Q-25: Is the IANA Fuel Card accepted in Canada?
A: Yes. The card is accepted at Esso, Imperial Oil, Husky, and the vast majority of cardlock locations in Canada. Cardlock locations are unattended.
Q-26: Are multiple currencies and measurements supported?
A: Yes. Program participants can receive their reports in liters or gallons and can pay in U.S. or Canadian currency.
Q-27: Can the card be restricted to a limited number of truck stops?
A: Yes. The card can be restricted to specific truck stops and specific regions.
Card Management and Program Features
Q-28: Can I manage my account online?
A: Yes. A program participant can manage their account online through our secure Web site with the proper login. Real time account balance and payment history is also available. In addition to instant online card management and control, customer service is offered free of charge 24 hours a day.
Q-29: Can I control the cards myself?
A: Yes. All card functions are accessible in real time on T-Chek’s secure Web site.
Q-30: Can I cancel a card immediately?
A: Yes. Immediate cancellation or a temporary hold can be done online or through the T-Chek Customer Relations department.
Q-31: What are the options for assigning a fuel card?
A: The IANA fuel card can be assigned to a driver, tractor number or ID number.
Q-32: Can my driver(s) drive multiple trucks?
A: Yes. By using unit pools, you can slip seat and still capture the necessary data by the unit for fuel tax.
Q-33: Can I get cash advances on the card?
A: Yes. Cash can be put on the card for one time use only, or a repeating cash allowance at the participating company’s discretion.
Q-34: Can I restrict the card to fuel only?
A: Yes. The card can also be restricted to maximum gallon purchase limits by transaction and by day.
Q-35: Can program members integrate terminal fuel data with over the road fuel purchases?
A>: Yes. T-Chek Systems is compatible with the majority of card control devices such as PetroVend, Gasboy, Autogas, FuelGuard and Orion.
Q-36: If I buy multiple products at the same time am I charged more than one transaction fee?
A: No. Where transaction fees apply, all purchases made within a one-hour timeframe at the same location are regarded as a single transaction.
Q-37: Are multiple currencies and measurements supported?
A: Yes. Program participants can receive their reports in liters or gallons and can pay in U.S. or Canadian currency.
Q-38: Can the card be restricted to a limited number of truck stops?
A: Yes. The card can be restricted to specific truck stops and specific regions.
Q-39: What other products can be purchased on the card?
A: The participating company controls the purchasing options. Oil, scales, tires, tire repair, minor parts, additives, truck wash, and other items—each with dollar amount restrictions per transaction or per week.
Q-40: Do transaction fees apply to these purchases?
A: There are no transaction fees at IANA Premium Network sites. Transaction fees do apply elsewhere, but if these additional products are purchased at the time of fueling, there is only the applicable transaction fee.
Q-41: Are there any other features to the card?
A: Yes. Driver Settlements can be loaded to the card. The card can also be used to access to cash from ATM’s, which are independently owned and may charge a fee for use of their machine.
Transaction Fees and Cost Savings
Q-42: What are the applicable transaction fees?
A: There are no transaction fees at IANA Premium Network and CFN locations. Transactions fees do apply outside the IANA Premium Network and the CFN locations. The IANA member supported program has built in automatic thresholds, a combined basis that will reduce then-applicable transaction fees as IANA member participation grows.
Q-43: How much can I expect to save as a participant in the program?
A: Savings over the past 24 months for existing programs like the IANA Premium Network have averaged in excess of 15 cents a gallon below the national retail average. Contact Jeff Beaumont for more details.
Q-44: How do we know we are getting the best fuel price?
A: IANA is committed to providing its members the most cost-effective fueling network available. T-Chek uses state of the art pricing software to organize information, allowing IANA's members to maximize buying leverage in any given area.
Q-45: How can I find the best available fuel price for my drivers?
A: Participation in the program provides you access to T-Chek's Internet based e-Stop® Fuel Management Tool Kit. You can view current fuel prices anywhere T-Chek’s card is accepted, allowing you to direct your drivers to the lowest priced locations.
Q-46: If I buy multiple products at the same time am I charged more than one transaction fee?
A: No. Where transaction fees apply, all purchases made within a one-hour timeframe at the same location are regarded as a single transaction.
Q-47: If my driver purchases other products do transaction fees apply?
A: There are no transaction fees at IANA Premium Network sites. Transaction fees do apply elsewhere, but if these additional products are purchased at the time of fueling, there is only the applicable transaction fee.
Q-48: Do transaction fees apply to access to ATM machines purchases?
A: Other companies, who control what fees that may apply, independently own ATM machines.
Reports and Online Services
Q-49: Is on line reporting available?
A: Yes on line reporting is available. IANA participants can access a free reporting program, called T-Trans™.
Q-50: What type of reports do I receive?
A: T-Trans™ includes over 40 pre-formatted reports, including unit, driver, state tax, federal tax, hub, transaction time, off-highway use, gallons by state, gallons by truck stop, etc.
Q-51: What can T-Trans™ do for my company?
A: T-Trans™ is a powerful off-line fuel reporting software package that helps transportation businesses manage and minimize their operational expenses. The pre-formatted reports on fuel, cash management and debit dollars help you verify month-end invoices, track your fleet's fueling habits by driver, card, or unit number, and negotiate better fuel pricing by determining where you spend your fuel dollars.
Q-52: Can these reports be integrated with my current software system?
A: Yes. Data can be provided in an acceptable format that can be downloaded into software. Data can also be delivered in a flat ASCII file. Reports can also be transferred into Excel spreadsheets. Reports are available without time of purchase or without hub reading, at the participants’ discretion.
Q-53: Can I manage my account online?
A: Yes. A program participant can manage their account online through our secure Web site with the proper login. Real time account balance and payment history is also available. In addition to instant online card management and control, customer service is offered free of charge 24 hours a day.
Q-54: Are multiple measurements and currencies supported?
A: Yes. Program participants can receive their reports in liters or gallons and can pay in US or Canadian currency. T-Chek is currently testing the Mexican transactions capabilities. Details will be announced in the future.
Trucking Software Integration
Q-55: Can the reports be integrated with my current software system?
A: Yes. Data can be provided in an acceptable format that can be downloaded into software. Data can also be delivered in a flat ASCII file. Reports can also be transferred into Excel spreadsheets. Reports are available without time of purchase or without hub reading, at the participants’ discretion.
Q-56: Can I integrate the transaction data with my dispatch program?
A: Yes. T-Chek stays current with all major dispatch software. T-Chek technical support staff will work with program participants on integrating with their software program. Technical support personnel are available from 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM CST, with 24-hour "on-call" for emergencies. Please call 877-767-2435, ext. 7500 for assistance or questions.
