In response to petitions, FMCSA has announced that the requirement to file no-defect DVIRs goes beyond stated requirements and is likely to provide only negligible safety benefits. Therefore, the department has determined that it may be necessary to issue a NPRM to propose eliminating the requirement for no-defect DVIRs. In the meantime, FMCSA extended the compliance deadline from 06/30/10 to 06/30/11. |

IANA launched their Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR) Processing System. The system assists motor carriers, intermodal equipment providers (IEPs), facility operators, and maintenance & repair vendors with regulatory compliance and identification of defective equipment.
